WORLD PARROT MISSION OPENS AVIARY MAY 16, 2009
WORLD PARROT MISSION NEWS – April 27, 2009
This is a very special newsletter. Thanks to you and those like you who’ve helped over the years. I hope you know you’re appreciated.
Miranda Rasnake was at our store on Easter Sunday and picked out the winning tickets for the raffle. Esperanza Saguar of Miami won the beautiful Bronze Parrot Lady and Erin Byrne of Miami Beach won the painting by the Australian Artist Deb Foster.
We raised almost $2,000 with this raffle! We certainly appreciate your support and help, which has allowed us to commit to our mission!
There were 1274 Birdies made in the tournament. Those golfers just keep getting better!
The Aviary – Opening on May 16, 2009!
We did it! We’ve raised enough money to build an aviary that will be a virtual parrot paradise! We are having an opening ceremony and party on Saturday, May 16, 2009. The celebration will be from 1-4 p.m. at our headquarters: 99150 Overseas Highway, Key Largo. We will have free hotdogs and sodas and a ribbon cutting ceremony at 2 p.m.
The parrots will now be able to be in the public eye, have wonderful days in the aviary and we will be conducting rainforest immersion programs where people can have a close up experience with the birds in their little rainforest. We are having a waterfall built and there will be trees and swings and toys. We will also spend time teaching the birds and helping people with their birds, while helping to re-home the birds that need a new family to love them. We are hoping that we can truly change the way that people view these magnificent beings.
If you are willing to volunteer for our opening day celebration, please email me with when you could come and help. We will need someone on the grill, helping serve, helping direct folks that come and being there to hand out brochures about the World Parrot Mission. Give me your phone number so that I can call you back, or you can call me at 305-393-2808.
I’d like to say a special thanks to all of you who have helped over the past eight years to raise this money and make this dream a reality. I hope you all feel like it’s “your” aviary and you’ll visit as much as you like to see the birds that you’ve helped and watch us grow.
A warm and heartfelt thanks,
Founder and Executive Director
